WILL I FAIL A URINALYSIS WHEN USING CBD?

If you are concerned with urinalyses, we highly recommend that you DO NOT USE Full Spectrum products from any company, or purchase products without visible lab tests, regardless of claims. Although Full Spectrum only has trace amounts of THC, the levels can still build up enough to cause a positive or false-positive test result.

Our THC Free products have zero detectable levels of THC, verified by the COAs on site. The labs use GC/MS and/or HPCL testing procedures to achieve these test results, the same testing procedures that are most commonly used for employment drug screening. If a sample is lab tested, it is going to show what our reports do, which is No Detectable (ND) levels of THC.

Our Full Spectrum products are made with a Whole Plant Extract and contain less than 0.3% THC by law. The exact levels of cannabinoids, and cannabinoids present, will be indicated on the COAs for that batch. The levels of cannabinoid content and cannabinoids present may slightly differ from one batch to another.

We are not legally able to make any recommendations or guarantees with drug tests for THC free or Full Spectrum products. If that is a concern, we would recommend doing some further research before making the decision to consume any CBD products.

A good place to start researching would be projectcbd.org, reaching out directly to a drug testing facility with your questions, or viewing the information we provide in our CBD Guide located in our main menu.

WHAT ARE THE KNOWN & POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS OF CBD

The side effects of CBD

CBD has few side effects and is considered a safe substance to take. These are the known side effects of CBD:

Inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism/decreased activities of p-glycoprotein and other drug transporters

Dry mouth

Low blood pressure

Lightheadedness

Drowsiness

Cannabidiol (CBD) is probably the best known cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, along with THC. Although the two compounds share the same roots, they don’t carry the same traits and their effects on the human body are very different.

THC is the compound that makes one high and does this by binding to the CB1 receptor in the brain. It does provide some health benefits thanks to its analgesic, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, but the side effects usually outweigh the benefits. This is why THC is not regarded as a suitable treatment solution for many applications with CBD often a better option as CBD has fewer side effects.

CBD on the other hand has a greater affinity to the CB2 receptor, interacting differently with the nervous system without eliciting any psychoactive effect. Instead, CBD health benefits are numerous, including antioxidant, antiemetic, anticonvulsant and anti-tumoral properties. Moreover, CBD counteracts the psychoactivity of THC and acts as a natural antidepressant and neuroprotective agent. We won’t detail these aspects here, but you can read our previous articles to learn more about the positive effects of cannabidiol and about the differences between THC and CBD. For now, let’s return to CBD side effects and it’s actions and interactions inside the human body.

Potential side effects of cannabidiol (CBD)

There are dozens of studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of cannabidiol in treating various conditions. Most of these studies conclude that this cannabinoid is safe and virtually free of side effects.

This review paper on the Safety and side effects of cannabidiol1 by the NCBI for example suggests that controlled cannabidiol administration is safe and non-toxic in humans and animals. It also does not induce changes in food intake; nor does it affect physiological parameters like heart rate, body temperature or blood pressure. Also, according to this review paper, “high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are reportedly well tolerated in humans.”

There are very few known side effects of CBD, these are mostly minor but you should be informed before taking CBD

  1. Inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism

However, the NCBI study does mention some potential side effects for cannabidiol, such as the inhibition of hepatic drug metabolism and decreased activity of p-glycoprotein. CBD can indeed interact with a series of pharmaceuticals, as it inhibits the activity of some liver enzymes called cytochrome P450. This family of enzymes metabolizes most of the pharmaceutical drugs used to treat humans. If one takes high doses of CBD, the cannabinoid can temporarily neutralize the activity of P450 enzymes and thus alter the way drugs are metabolized inside the body. This action of CBD can be regarded as a side effect, but it’s not always a negative trait, as the deactivation of P450 enzymes is one of the mechanisms through which CBD neutralizes THC as well.

Putting this in perspective, eating a portion of grapefruit would have a similar effect on the aforementioned liver enzymes. So this should be viewed as a minor side effect of cannabidiol. However, if you are taking pharmaceutical drugs and wish to take CBD, you should discuss any potential complications regarding reduced P450 enzyme activity with your doctor and/or pharmacist.

  1. Dry mouth

Another reported side effect of CBD administration is an unpleasant dry sensation in the mouth. This effect seems to be caused by the involvement of the endocannabinoid system in the inhibition of saliva secretion. A study published by Argentinian researchers back in 2006 showed that cannabinoid receptors (type 1 and 2) are present in the submandibular glands which are responsible for producing saliva. The activation of these receptors alters the salivary production, leading to mouth dryness (also referred to as “cotton-mouth”). Dry mouth will pretty much just make you thirsty.

  1. Increased tremor in Parkinson’s disease at high dose CBD

Early research suggests that CBD taken in high doses may worsen tremor and muscle movement in Parkinson’s disease sufferers. Yet, there are also studies that suggest that cannabidiol is safe and well-tolerated by patients affected by this condition. If this occurs, reducing the dose should reduce this potential side effect. Parkinson’s disease sufferers should consult their doctor before taking CBD and also begin any regimen by taking smaller doses.

  1. Low blood pressure

Higher doses of CBD oil can cause a small drop in blood pressure , usually within a few minutes of the CBD entering your system. This drop in blood pressure is often associated with a feeling of lightheadedness. If you are taking medication for blood pressure, you should consult your doctor before taking CBD.

  1. Lightheadedness

This can be caused by the drop in blood pressure that can affect those using higher doses. This side effect of CBD is temporary and can often be resolved by drinking a cup of coffee or tea.

  1. Drowsiness

In higher doses, CBD can cause drowsiness. If you are affected this way, you should not operate machinery or drive a vehicle. In most cases however, CBD is a wake-inducing agent.

HOW DO I USE YOUR PRODUCTS?

We carry few products compared to our competitors. This is due to the simple fact that we only carry what we deem necessary and effective. Our target demographic is the Veteran community, as we are Veterans ourselves and we develop products for efficacy, period.

Oil Tinctures

The most common method is to take 5-10 drops (10-20mg, with formula that 2500mg is approx. 2mg per drop) sublingual (under the tongue) and wait up to an hour. Increase your dose to reach desired effects. on subsequent servings. Most of our customers find that 30mg 1-2x a day is what they like to use, use the method above and you may find that your "sweet spot" is lower, saving you some money. Other methods of using tinctures include adding your serving size to coffee, water, or other food and beverages.

Isolate Powder

Our THC-Free CBD Isolate can be used in a variety of ways as it is a very versatile ingredient. The most common method is to add your desired dose to a protein shake, coffee, or other beverage. You can take it sublingual, by holding it under your tongue for one minute and swallowing, or use it in an ingredient in cooking recipes.

Topical Salve

Many people forget that our skin is an organ as well, it will absorb compounds effectively. To use our Topical Salve, rub a small amount of salve onto the affected area, wait up to 30 minutes and add more as needed. Our topical salve is not meant to be ingested. Please keep it away from open sores and mucous membranes.

Softgels

To use our softgels, simply swallow them as you would a fish oil type supplement. Our softgels are pre-measured at 30mg CBD Isolate per dose. Take one a day, or many. That decision is yours. They are travel friendly, and easy to consume. Please keep the bottle away from heat and light, as the softgels can melt together. If this happens due to shipping, or because you left them in your hot vehicle, simply pry them apart carefully or run some water over the cluster until they separate.

WHAT DOSE SHOULD I TAKE?

We cannot legally recommend dosing for any conditions due to FDA regulations.

The majority of our customers (180lb+) are taking ~30mg 1-2x daily and have offered positive reviews, with customers (180lb-) taking ~20mg 1-2x daily with positive feedback. This feedback can be found in our reviews on site.

There are many articles online that recommend different dosage requirements for specific ailments or symptoms that you are trying to target. We recommend researching these articles to facilitate an educated decision so that you take the correct amount without wasting your product or taking too little, to effectively target your symptoms.

Bottom line, everyone processes CBD differently and it takes trials to determine what dose works best for you. Start with a low dose and increase gradually on subsequent doses until desired effects are achieved. This will save you product ie money and help you better determine which products fit your needs.

You may need a little patience to determine the optimal daily dosage to suit your needs. Your body is unique, a dosage that works well for someone else may be too much or too little for you. While there is no danger in taking more CBD than you need, it has been found that more CBD does not necessarily improve your results, and increases your costs.

When you select a capsule or softgel, your dosage is premeasured. Taken once a day, you would be taking a dose of 30 mg a day. You can gauge the dosage in a 200 mg vape cartridge at 2 mg per puff. When selecting a full-spectrum CBD tincture, your dosage will be determined by the amount of CBD in the bottle.

A standard bottle of CBD oil conatins 30 milliliters of CBD and is measured with a dropper. A dropper typically holds one milliliter (ml). You will need to take fewer drops of a higher milligram (mg) product. For example:

500 mg bottle = 16.6 mg per ml = 0.8 mg per drop

1000 mg bottle = 33.3 mg per ml = 1.5 mg per drop

2000mg bottle = 66.6 mg per ml = 3.0 mg per drop

2500 mg bottle = 83.3 mg per ml = 3.8 mg per drop

5000 mg bottle = 166.6 mg per ml = 7.6 mg per drop

While CBD manufacturers typically do not suggest dosage information, some sources suggest starting at a low dose, (10-20mg) per day, while assessing your results.

When trying to determine your ideal dosage for your purposes, if you do not experience the results you are looking for after 3-4 hours; you can safely increase the amount of CBD taken with your next dose. Eventually, you will find the best dose of CBD for your needs.

**CBD is not a cure or treatment for any medical disorder; it is a potentially beneficial dietary supplement. Consult with your doctor before using CBD products. CBD can interact with some types of medication.

CAN I TAKE CBD WITH PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS?

As with any supplement, we recommend consulting your physician prior to adding CBD to your daily routine. There are studies that show the implications of using CBD in conjunction with prescription medications, namely increasing or decreasing the efficacy of the medicine, which could be dangerous.
